This is a New Photo Service image by Underwood & Underwood of a laboring narrow gauge train making its way along to the front with two cars full of munition and men, on its way to U.S. batteries at the front in France, 1918.  

(The original wasn't robust enough to pull much detail in the faces of the troops in the railway car doorway...I also couldn't tell what they were standing on...)
