I've owned this print for many years, and it has just recently returned from storage and is hanging up. I found it in a frame that seems to fit it perfectly, and the original paper seems not to have been cut to fit the frame. The frame is old, perhaps 175 years old, with hand-forged nails and imperfect glass. That really doesn't help much, though. I'm fairly certain that it is a print though I'm not 100% convinced it is not a drawing, and I feel as though the embossed border will be the biggest help. The image is on a heavy card stock, and the embossed part is signed/printed "Dobbs", the name of a manufacturer of embossed blanks and images and greeting cards and such, operating in the mid-19th century, though it looks like an earlier iteration of the firm ("Dobbs & Kidd") was around at least from 1821. So I guess the age of the image is pretty much half-guesstimated--I just haven't a clue about the image, though it reminds me of several things...
