These are remarkable, extremely beautiful and inspirational. Several months ago, following the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform disaster, our daughter, who is 13, and has an engineering inclination, prepared a drawing for an invention intended to remedy the disaster on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. It wasn't entirely realistic, but it was logical, beautifully drawn and clearly deeply felt in terms of trying to solve the many dimensions of the problem. With additional knowledge and a lot of energy and perseverence, of course, (she already has the curiosity), she'll go far. "extra Earths", "fabulous aircraft with an escape pod for women". So great. When I was in high school, our library had a collection of the Illustrated London News that went quite far back. It's very rare that I want to return to that high school library, but I do this morning.
