William Huggins and Stellar Spectra (1880)

William Huggins, "On the Photographic Spectra of Stars", in Nature, January 22, 1880.

This is a short two-page abstract of the 21-page version of this significant work on stellar spectroscopy that appeared in the Philosophical Transactions at nearly the same time as the Nature publication. It is commendable that Nature reprinted the folding plate of the spectra of sevens stars here as a full page length image (one full column of the two-column page). This paper is an extract of the weekly issue from a larger bound volume, complete with the scarce outer wrappers. Very Good copy. $40
